Meet Lyric Eschoe, a Class of 2019 graduate. Lyric will be a freshman at Spelman College this fall, studying Documentary Filmmaking. We chatted with Lyric about growing up in Westview and her plans for the future.

"My favorite part of growing up in Westview would have to be the energy of how welcoming everyone is. There are so many neighbors I’ve met and gotten to connect with through various meetings and my mom’s shop. It’s been a great experience."

"What drew me to Spelman was the sisterhood that I hear so much about. Growing up here, I always heard amazing things about the Spelman girls and everything they had accomplished. There was always high praise about them...everyone seemed so supportive of them and they seemed supportive of each other and I wanted to be apart of that. I think what it means to be apart of an inclusive school community is to be apart of a community that is welcoming and safe. It’s a place where you don’t have to act a certain way because you are able to just simply be you."

Meet Ziquavious Finch, your neighbor on Stokes Avenue. He graduated from Carver High School Yesterday. This fall, Ziquavious will be attending Albany State University.

The City of Atlanta Department of City Planning and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. have teamed up to coordinate two planning efforts The West End Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) and Atlanta BeltLine Subarea 1 Plan update. Collectively, these plans will reflect the community’s vision and today’s market conditions, while incorporating an action-oriented implementation plan. Additional information is included in the attached fact sheet.

A Note from the Firewall Food Stop:

Firewall Food Stop will officially be open for business starting May 31st. We will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 11am-9pm and Sundays from 11-3. The remaining days will be focused on kicking the food truck business back into gear. As time goes on we certainly plan to have the brick and mortar open on more days but for now it's #WestviewWeekends. As I'm sure many of you know the space is incredibly tiny but I think you'll all be pleasantly surprised with what I've done with the place. And it only took 18 months! That said it is take-out only, but we'll have a nice little side patio for your dining pleasure if you so choose. One important thing to note: we will be an entirely cashless establishment. We accept credit, debit, apple and android pay so please plan accordingly. Can’t wait to serve you all!!

Have old electronics, clothes, and documents you are about to throw out? Instead, recycle them on Atlanta Recycles Day at Greenbriar Mall this Saturday and every 3rd Saturday from 9am-12pm.
