On Sunday, September 29, 2019, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition activates Atlanta Streets Alive - Southwest, connecting 7 neighborhoods spanning from Cascade Avenue to Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, and Georgia Avenue. We'll close the streets to cars and open them for people to walk, roll, bike, and play!

The fun kicks off at 2:00 pm with the official opening of the street followed by a parade of the route. Parade lineup is at 2:00 pm for a 2:30 pm launch. FREE bike decorations will be available while supplies last!
After the opening program and kickoff parade, visit Activity Partners and Route Hosts along the route for a wealth of interactive experiences hosted by community organizations, local businesses, and our sponsors. You can explore the open street from end to end or enter and exit the route at any cross street at any time during the four-hour activation.

Atlanta Streets Alive is FREE and fun for all ages. Come experience the history, culture, spirit, and pride in Atlanta’s southwest neighborhoods and communities. We invite you, your friends, and family to enjoy our city streets as public space.

It’s national voter registration day. Check your registration status online and register to vote with this link:  https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do

#WestviewVotes was created in 2018 as a nonpartisan community initiative to encourage every neighbor within our community to be registered and to vote! This initiative utilized Community Block Captains to connect and engage residents on every street. Acting as a resource on everything related to voting: registration, primary dates, precinct locations and rides to the polls. Are you interested in volunteering as a block captain? Greetings, neighbors!

We are preparing to demonstrate against Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.’s unwillingness to meet with our neighborhoods regarding the pending sale of their Murphy Crossing site. The demonstration will be held at the Beltline’s upcoming 3rd Quarterly Meeting aptly to discuss “Equity and Sustainability”. This meeting will be held this Tuesday, September 17th, from 6-8pm at the 725 Ponce Building (725 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306). See attached.

At their meeting, we will confront the ABI staff on their intentions to not communicate with us, review the survey results, or engage our communities in any meaningful way. Furthermore, we will demand to meet with the Beltline to discuss the survey results, general community sentiments and community benefits agreements prior to the sale of the property.

We are encouraging community residents to show their support for this effort by:

    #1) Attending the meeting

#2) Wearing RED T-Shirts in solidarity of the Group, and

#3) Speaking up during the Q/A period (or deferring your time to the leader)

Please also share with your neighbors.
